Whose Birthday Is It?

I thought it would be fun to find out who shares a birthday week with Kiss and Tell. An amazingly wide array of supposed celebrities I've never heard of, and these guys below, who I have heard of. Let's see, shall we?

May 4
  • Audrey Hepburn - Holy Cow! It's kismet. We are all channeling her sprite-like beauty as hard as we can. Since we share the same birthday week I think she's gotta give it up.
  • Heloise - Oh, no freakin' way. Do not ask me how to get a stain out of ANYTHING. My answer: take it to the cleaners or throw it out. Not channeling Heloise, apparently.
  • Lance Bass - I bet Lance visits our blog. Hi Lance!!
  • Pia Zadora - What was that soft-porn movie she was in, in the 80's? Does anybody remember that? And then she married that billionaire. Are they still married? Wow. I know way too much about Pia Zadora.
May 5
  • Ann B. Davis - Think, think. You know you know who she is. "Till one day when the lady met this fellow, and they knew it was much more than a hunch, that this group would somehow form a family..." Yes! It's Alice!
  • John Rhys-Davies - How cool is this? We share a birthday with the guy who's played a sidekick in two of the biggest movie series of all time: Indiana Jones and The Lord of the Rings. I actually really dig this dude.
  • Karl Marx - Power to the people, man. But I'm not, you know, a communist or anything. Nope, dreaded capitalist here. Sorry, Karl.
  • Michael Palin - I think my love of all things Monty Python is well documented. Oh, what the hell. Let's do a Michael Palin clip just for the fun of it.

May 6 (Wow, this day is chock full o' nuts.)
  • Bob Seger - I love this guy! Favorite Bob Seger song. Come on, what is it? We all have one. Mine? Like a Rock. No. Against the Wind. No, no, wait. Old Time Rock and Roll. See? Love. Him.
  • Chris Angel - I don't get this. I really don't.
  • George Clooney - I don't get this, either. Seriously.
  • Orson Welles - Story here. If you google Samantha Kane you get a whole bunch of Orson Welles stuff because of Citizen Kane. And we share the same birthday week. Coincidence? I think not.
  • Rudolph Valentino - The silent film star. He's one of the list of famous people who died when they were 27. His one film was about a sheik who kidnaps a young British woman for nefarious reasons of a sexual nature. This was back before the Hays Code in 1930 that censored movies. This movie was one of the reasons they wrote the code. Women were fainting during the movie. Seriously.
  • Sigmund Freud - Wouldn't he just have a blast at Kiss and Tell?
May 7
  • Darren McGavin - He was the absolute best in A CHRISTMAS STORY. Remember his "major award"? "Fra-gi-le. It must be Italian."
  • Gary Cooper - One of my all time favorite movie stars. I've seen all his movies. I have a big poster of a 1930's publicity still of him that my sister gave me about twenty years ago. It's propped up next to my computer. He was the inspiration for Gabe in ISLANDS. (Not the best picture, but I couldn't find a better one.)
  • Traci Lords - Enough said.
May 8
  • Alex Van Halen - The one who isn't Eddie. But he's a hard rockin' dude, so he's welcome to our birthday week.
  • Bobby Labonte - Had to include Bobby, since we all live in the home of NASCAR, the great state of N. Carolina, where Bobby's from.
  • Melissa Gilbert and Toni Tennille - I put them together because when I saw them on the list I immediately thought of a mud wrestling match between them. Clearly Sigmund is needed here at Kiss and Tell.
Well, that's a rather impressive list isn't it?

Birthdays are a time for reflection. Or so I've heard somewhere. Usually I just reflect on cake and presents and booze, but I'm trying to be mature here. So let's reflect. I actually want to know what you all like about the blog, and what you might like to see in the coming year. Do you like Trailer Trash Tuesday? Want more? Or less? What about guest bloggers? More book excerpts? Pictures? Scholarly essays on blow jobs? What? Tell me! And if you do make the nice nice and comment, you could win a prize. What prize you ask? How about one of those handy-dandy backpacks/sportbags filled with two autographed print books (THE COURAGE TO LOVE and AT LOVE'S COMMAND), a deck of Ellora's Cave playing cards, and a lime-green drink cooler with my and Mari's names and websites on it. Sound good? Then get thee to the comments page!

And a bit of tooting my own horn, AT LOVE'S COMMAND was voted Best eBook of the Year in Historical Romance by the reviewers over at Romance Reviews Today. High five me! Virtually!

Thanks guys!! Next week I'll sum up the suggestions everyone makes this weekend (my blog is up all weekend usually.) But guest bloggers definitely seem to be popular.

We tend to be a little off the wall here. It's not your normal writer's blog, lol. Glad you like it.

Happy Happy Birthday Kiss & Tell!

My daughter's birthday is in May as well so we'll be eating cake in a few weeks too.

Gotta say I like what the previous bloggers have had to say...the names of posts rock, the reviews are funny and deliciously naughty, and the guests are amazing.

You forgot one on May 8. I know this becvause I get the day off of work every year for this one. May 8 is former President Harry Truman's birthday, and all Missouri State employees get that day off as a paid holiday. So I've been at home being lazy all day tosy.

Happy Birthday Kiss and Tell! Its been a great week. I had my birthday at the end of April and I am not to happy with birthday anymore. I am getting old!

I really enjoy guest bloggers on the blog and book reviews so I can keep up with what is out there.

Lyoness2009 ~ Tell her happy birthday! And send us some virtual cake.

NancyG ~ Actually I did know it was Harry Truman's birthday (I grew up in St. Joe, MO). But I had to pick and choose and Harry just didn't seem right for the occasion. ;-)

Virginia ~ I like to think of my birthday as a great big celebration of me and how wonderful I am. It's a philosophy that has gotten me past 40 with my sanity and self-esteem still intact.

Guest bloggers = yes
Book reviews = no. I'm a writer, not a reviewer. I can only tell you what I like, which isn't the same thing.

Scholarly essays on blow jobs??? Oooh. Sounds interesting. *LOL*

I enjoy hanging out here when my time allows it. I wouldn't know how to improve K&T because you already rock, ladies!

Why? I don't know. Because you're not condescending know-it-all like some fellow writers? Because you're not afraid to write words like "blow job" (sorry, one track mind here after a weekend of writing sexy scenes)?
Because you're funny and entertaining, and say what's on your blogger mind!

Happy B-day once again, K&T!
