Who the frak is Chloe Harris?

Who the frak is Chloe Harris? That’s me, hanging out here for Trailer Trash Tuesday while the K&T girls are on their way to wild adventures at the Romantic Times Book Lovers Convention. Oh, and I come bearing gifts!

Let me introduce myself. I’m a debut author with Kensington Aphrodisia line and I’m hitting the net getting to know lots of great readers and writers. My first book, Secrets of Sin, will be out in January of 2010. It’s an 18th century tale of a Dutch ship’s captain who abandoned his wealthy half French, half Afro-Indian wife four years earlier and focuses on the intense and titillating struggle for power—and love—between them.

I hope you’ll let Secrets of Sin heat up your winter nights to come. In the meantime I’m giving away other great Kensington titles. So in honor of my first title a random commenter will win another first, Wolf Tales by Kate Douglas, the book that started the Chanku saga. Check out the trailer:

And now my first love, historical romance and Madeline Hunter. She can do no wrong in my eyes and this trailer is no exception. For me it really captures the dark sexy edge that makes The Sins of Lord Easterbrook something new and different. Enjoy.

Last but not least, let’s talk sci fi! Science Fiction is a great love my mine. Some of the best writing lately has been in science fiction. Speaking of which don’t forget Samantha Kane’s Tomorrow, the first book in her trilogy for Ellora’s Cave science fiction erotic romance series Hunters for Hire, is out tomorrow! Set your alarm to wake you up at 12:01 and get your hands on it as fast as you can!

I couldn’t resist leaving you with a homage to my favorite sci fi word, FRAK.

So stop in, introduce yourself and tell me a little something about you. Maybe what your first romance novel was or which writer or genre is first in your book? Or just let me know what you think of any of the trailers or just about anything that’s on your mind.

I can’t wait to meet you!

Hey, Chloe! My first romance would have to be either a Jude Deveraux novel [the title escapes me but it had time travel elements and the heroine was named Douglass Montgomery I think]. The first novel that I remember leaving an impact is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, and not just because it was about 800+ pages in paperback. Jamie Fraser...I can't say enough.

Congrats on Secrets of Sin.

Hi Dee. Thanks for stopping by.
Jamie Fraser is all you need to say. What a great character!

I'm looking forward to a warm fire and a hot read. Counting the days until January!

Aww thanks!

But darn it you can't be entered in the drawing.

(Remember to list your name and/or email to win the book!)

Hey! My first romance was a sci-fi and actually I think it could have been classified as an "erotic" sci-fi romance if that genre had already existed then! I couldn't remember who wrote it even if my life depended upon it. I was so amazed that I started reading more and more... and now... I'm a romance junkie! *lol* And - duh - I prefer a little spice to go with my romance.

Hey Dee! Great to see you again! I read Outlander and the two that followed, but Gabaldon then jumped to my "never again" pile. Always the same ol' same ol' and a disappointingly ridiculous plot (if there was any) made me soon lose interest in the series.

Anonymous, I'm right there with ya. I'm also counting the days until January! :-D

I know the newest Gabaldon is coming out later this year but with the price of hardbacks, it's not on my auto-buy list. I remembered the first book...it was Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux which was quickly followed by the Velvet Saga and the Lady trilogy.

Hi Chloe--I actually do remember the first romance that started it all for me--it was Anne Mather's LEOPARD IN THE SNOW. A friend loaned it to me in 1976, and I loved the book...and thought to myself, "I can write these!"

not nearly as easy as I thought, but now 33 years later, I DO write them!

Best of luck with your debut novel!

My first romance is an older Harlequin called Cassandra by Chance...I still have it somewhere.

Hey Chloe! Its nice to meet you. I am big into the historical romance and I guess the first romance book I read which got me started reading romance would have to be Gone With The Wind. Loved that book and have read it several times. I just don't have a copy anymore.

Virginia nice to meet you too! You know as many times as I've seen the movie I have never read Gone with the Wind. I just might have to pick it up soon.

Hi Larena thanks for commenting. I have never read a Hannah Howell. I will have to check her out.

Hello Chloe... what a great name.. a romance writers name if ever there was!

I am a dyed in the wool Gabaldon fan from way back...and I'm afraid to an extreme..lol... and I 'love me some Black Dagger Brotherhood' by JR Ward... but when all the dust settles, I must give my heart and libidinous soul away to Mik and AJ from my new obsession Wolf Tales. You see I messed up and got the stories out of order, and ended up with Mik and AJ and Tala first, and just lost my heart.

I'm just really really happy that nobody will ever line all these beautiful hunks up and make me chose one for real. That is the beauty of the mind and all it's capacity to um... 'fly free' as it were!

So happy for your upcoming Secrets of Sin... have it jotted down in the remember to read list. Us 'old broads' have to write these things down sometimes, but I cant wait to read it... congrats!!

Hi Mandy! Nice to meet you.
I meet Diana Gabaldon once at a Scottish Festival in Georgia. I wonder what happened to that picture?

I don't remember the Author but the name I believe was The Black Sheep Of The Family. But it was about thiry years ago

Chloe Harris said...

Hi Pat. There really are some long time lovers of romance here! I didn't start reading romance until my mid-20s but that was still a little while ago.

Hi Chloe,

I started reading Romance ~26 years ago with Johanna Lindsey's books. I'm pretty loyal I still pick up her books today. Kensington Aphrodisia has become a favorite line of mine. I just found their blog/web site last weekend & spent a lot of time adding more books to my "To Be Bought" list. Congratulations with your release with them.

Thank you,
Susan

Hi Chloe! I can't wait to read your book. I am reading Kate Douglas's Wolf Tails series and I love the books! The first romance book I read was Sweet Savage Love by RoseMary Rogers (I think). That was years ago!

Good luck with your book.

Sheri

Chloe Harris said...

Hi Susan! Johanna Lindsey's are classics. I've read one or two of hers.
I love the Aphro Authors Blog too. I should be joining in over there are June or July.

Chloe Harris said...

Hi Sheri! I'm just getting into Kate's books but loving them so far.

Kate Douglas said...

Hey, Mandy! Thank you--Mik and AJ have turned out to be the most popular characters in my series. So glad you got to meet them! And Sheri, how cool! I still can't believe (fourteen books in the series later) how many people are reading and enjoying my Wolf Tales series. It's just way cool...and Chloe, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about when your books start coming out. I still get shivers when I walk into bookstores and see copies of MY books!

Hi Chloe! So nice to meet a new author! I've been a romance fan for many a year!!! Can't remember if my first romance was Rosemary Rogers or Kathleen Woodiwiss. Will keep an eye out for your book in Jan. Good luck!

I think I started with Regency romance but do not know the author. I also read Harlequin. Started rereading romance with the first Sexy Beast anthology. Now read dozens of ebooks a month.

Hi Chloe,
Can't wait to read "Secrets of Sin"!
My name is Mel. I'm a huge fan of Kate Douglas and I drive her crazy. In a good way of course! She would want me to win. lol!
My first romance was something by Kathleen Woodiwiss. Probably FLAME AND THE FLOWER. Right now I'm reading a lot of paranormal, horror, and suspense.
I'm going to a Pow Wow this weekend and I'm thrilled!
Kisses, Kate! Hugs, Chloe!

Hi Chloe, I love the name of this blog. It looks great, too. I'm an erotic historical paranormal romance author, and I've met Samantha. I'm excited to hear about her new sci-fi erotic romance series! And I adore Kate Douglas--she's a major sweetie.

Hey Mel, I’m happy to meet fans of such a great writer like Kate. Kathleen Woodiwiss seems to be where a lot of people got their start reading romance. I need a copy of The Flame and The Flower for my classics shelf.

Elizabeth a fellow NC writer! Thanks for stopping by. The first thing on my list when I get home is to buy Sam's new book.

Hi Chloe,
I want a few of KW's books for my classics shelf too! I found several at Walmart. A couple at used bookstores. Good deal.
I've hugged Kate. She's very huggable. :-)

Congrats, Martha!

Wow, you guys had fun while I was gone! :-D

Congrats Martha on the book win. I love Kate Douglas like chocolate, I swear. I missed her at RT this year. She made my first RT very memorable by taking a newbie author under her wing that first night at the bar.

Chloe, you know I can't wait for your book release. You're coming back here to K&T to celebrate!!Thanks so much for taking over here.

Hi Elizabeth! Good to see you here.
