The Internet Over Sex???

GASP! Really?

A new survey reported on CNN.com last week boldly states that nearly half the women polled would give up sex for two weeks before they would give up their internet.

Hmmm...

This does not compute and the article doesn't give me nearly enough information to take this seriously. At first glance i'm like "Oh no please don't ask me to give up my internet." But when forced to think about it, I would so rather have really hot sex than surf the net. Sorry my friends...

Did you catch the qualifier in that statement though? "Hot Sex" Yeah ladies that's what I was wondering about when I saw this survey. How many of these women not willing to give up the internet for sex are enjoying hot, sweaty satisfying sex?

These journalists throw out attention grabbing headlines and survey results to make us sit up an notice but did anyone ask these women about their sex lives first? I want to know how many respondents are happy with theirs. Cause let's face it, if we either aren't happy with the sex we are getting or are not in a place to even be getting any, a good lot of us would say "I'll take the internet please."

But where do these wild questions come from in the first place? Can't I have my HOT sex and my internetz?

I say YES I CAN! hehe

On a completely different subject...I have a free read that came out last week available at both Linden Bay Romance and All Romance eBooks.

It's short, HOT story to introduce readers to the upcoming shapeshifting series I have coming out next month at LBR.

Photobucket

Restless and alone on Christmas Eve, Niki decides it’s time to scratch the itch and heads into a nearby town for some action. Once there, it isn’t sex she finds, but a fight instead, that is until tall, dark and handsome intervenes...

Dean recognizes the stunning but surly Cougar for what she is the minute she gets close. Now it’s up to him to show her just how far a night of passion can go.

Have a good one and don't party too hard on New Years Eve!

Christmas PTSD, or The iTouch Wars

Well, it's Boxing Day, the day after Christmas. Time to tally up the score.
Sam:
Husband loved every gift she bought him = 100 pts.
Total = 100% Perfect (Of course. Did you doubt it?)

Mr. Kane:
Still thinks I'm two sizes smaller than I am = 50 bonus pts.
Torchwood Season Two = 50 pts.
iTouch = 50 pts.
Total = 150% Perfect (He is Mr. Kane, after all.)

The little Kanes also had a spectacular day. Santa, bless his big ole' heart, brought them exactly what they were hoping for.

So, the iTouch. Now, keep in mind that Mr. Kane gets full points for getting me exactly what I asked for. Full points. He had no idea that the little f**cker was going to give me a stroke on Christmas day.

I hate it. Hate, hate, hate it. It's supposed to be SOOOOOOO easy. I worked with that little f**cker all afternoon. I finally got it to sync my music and photos. But it still won't let me connect with iTunes. Because, just a few hours after charging the little f**cker, it demanded that I BUY an upgrade so that I could get stuff from the iTunes store. But it won't let me download the upgrade. It's quite possible I've purchased about 15 upgrades (and if I'm charged for it I'm sending Steve Jobs the bill.) So I can't sync Stanza, the ebook reader app, onto my iTouch because I can't download the upgrade. Which, if you'll recall, I was forced to buy mere HOURS after unwrapping my iTouch.

The worst part of this is that I feel like a moron. Less than a moron. Because I know morons who can use this little f**cker. But not me. Technology hates me. And I hate it right back. The nearest Apple store is almost two hours away, so I can't truck on over there and demand they make it work. So I'm forced to email Apple customer support. We'll see how that goes. To be fair, I can listen to music on it, I can look at my photos, and I've managed to figure out how to do my email on it. But, while that's all quite nice, that is not why I wanted it. I want to be sitting around reading all the wonderful ebooks I've put off buying until I had my new ebook-reading iTouch. Clearly, I am not.

So, back to the tally.

iTouch:
Unable to read ebooks = -735, 000, 000 pts. (pts. chosen totally at random based on my annoyance level)
Making me feel like a moron = -500, 000, 000 pts.
Giving me Christmas day shooting pain in the back of my head and an eye twitch = -999, 999, 999 pts.
Total = -2, 234, 999, 999

The iTouch has a lot of ground to recover here. I better not get an Apple service representative with a matching headache and eye twitch or it could get very ugly.

In the meantime, I will go back to reading Z.A. Maxfield's Long Way Home from Aspen Mountain Press on my computer. Okay, so I didn't give up reading ebooks all together while waiting for the iTouch. Apple may think I'm a moron, but I'm not completely stupid.

I'm going to leave you with a video I discovered while searching for Christmas song videos with my kids. They love this one, and so do I. I am the little drummer boy. Apple is the evil robot.

Merry Christmas!

Photobucket

I hope that all of you have had a blissful and joyous holiday! I spent the day with husband and my kids. They had a fabulous day and watching them, watching their smiles...well, it made my day fabulous, too.

I have much to say and yet much of it is still formulating. I seem to learn something new as each year passes, new things about myself, about my values and what I want to instill in my family as memories and foundations.

We have laughed a lot the last 36 hours...played a lot of games (board games, ya'll remember those, right?), made pizza and holiday cakes, told stories. I spent a lot of this afternoon and evening working on goals for next year and I am anxious to begin.

Take what is left of the holiday season and hold those close to you even closer, reach out to those that you know and love and remind them of their special place in your life.

We'll talk next week...

Being techno-challenged, I'm not sure what Angelia means by cyber-ware, but I'm going to assume that my iTouch applies. I'm so excited to get this little gadget! I've never had anything like it. E-reader, mp3 player, and all kinds of stuff I don't even know the names of yet. I bet I don't even know that I need this stuff or that my life is horribly lacking without them! But after tomorrow, if Mr. Santa Kane has been a very good boy, I will have my iTouch, and presumably be a happier, healthier person because of it. No? At the very least I will be a more easily entertained person. Don't worry. I'll keep you informed of my progress.

Christmas Funnies

It's three days until Christmas and my little world isn't doing so great. I'm not sure why bad things seem to happen at Christmas time but they do. I have nothing cute and clever to say today so before I start crying on your shoulder let me try something else. Humor has a way of turning things around. So I found some christmas funnies and thought I would pass them along here.

I wish all of you a very happy holiday and a peaceful week with your families.

A Few Of My Favorite Things

Photobucket Merry Christmas!! Well, not yet, but next week…grins

I don’t know what it is about Christmas, but I get the creative bug and get the ‘I want to make things’ bug. I want to do crafts, bake up a storm (though I don’t have a lot of people to give it to, but I still love to bake). I have finally found the Christmas spirit this year. It has taken me until last night, but I found it and thought I would take a break from our normal blogging and share with you some of my favorite things.

Villages. I have two actually. One that I am building up. I get a new building each year. This year it was a fire house and a bookstore. (Sam, I was thinking about you when you I bought it, even has two firemen in the window complete with Christmas tree and dalmation of which I will get a picture of for next week).

Photobucket

My other village was made for me by my grandmother. She painted the little houses this year and brought it up to me at Thanksgiving.
Photobucket

Coca-Cola Polar Bears. I fell in love with them years ago when we were struggling and it was our first Christmas being married. My husband bought me one when couldn’t stop gushing over the commercials each time they would air. Over the years I have collected ornaments, stuffed animals, jigsaw puzzles, socks, sweatshirts, mugs, glasses, cookie jars, and this guy… Photobucket

My red tinsel Christmas tree. It sits in my kitchen and has red lights and kitchen oriented ornaments…little hallmark cookie shapes, and a Starbuck’s cup and coffee. And of course, Coca-Cola polar bear ones. Photobucket

Photobucket

Traditions. I love them. Christmas cookies, Christmas trees, believing in Santa, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer on CBS with commercials and all, eggnog (at least 3 different brands), hot chocolate, board and card games on Christmas Eve, sappy Christmas movies all through December, Christmas-themed pajamas, the same Christmas songs sung in different ways by many different people, going out at night and looking at the lights on people’s homes, and multiple viewings of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. These are all things that mean a great deal to me and I strive to keep them alive.

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation Pictures, Images and Photos

One of the things that I remembered this year is that I’d forgotten the thought I used to put into gifts. I used to make most everything I gave to friends and family…crocheted afghans, cross-stitch pictures, baked goods (which I will likely talk about next week), stationary sets, etc… I didn’t do any of that this year. I miss simplicity and joy in the giving. I miss the thought more than I will ever miss the expectation. Each year, I try to write down a list of what I’d like to create the next year and I stuck to it some, but not all the way, not nearly all the way. I will strive harder next year. For many things, but most of all, to remember what we all so often forget…

I was bah humbug for quite a few weeks. I miss my family at Christmas. I miss the family gatherings, talking and sharing and laughing. Since moving to North Carolina, we are rather isolated from family and while I have my friends and my husband has his friends, we don’t have ‘our’ friends and that makes me miss people that I used to know.

What are your traditions? What are your favorite things? What is Christmas to you? If you do not celebrate Christmas, please tell us about what you do celebrate, share with us your traditions. How does the Season touch you…?

Now, back to my sappy movie…smiles

Want your very own copy of Samantha Kane's Retreat From Love? Leave a comment and you'll be entered to win an ebook copy of this release. Not sure what to comment about? Here's an idea. What is your favorite sub-genre of historical romance? Regency? Georgian? Old West? Or something more exotic or unusual?

I guess I don't have to tell you that my favorite historical romance sub-genre is Regency. I love to read it as much as I love to write it. My second favorite would be Georgian, I suppose. I'm not big on Medieval and ancient settings. I think those time periods are very hard for a modern writer to do without giving the characters a modern sensibility that simply does not work for me within the context of the time period. I just can't get around it. I also don't usually like books set in unusual time periods or settings. They take me out of my comfort zone.

There are exceptions to every rule, however. For instance I love Lindsay Davis's Falco detective series set in ancient Rome. I also like to read about some unusual time periods and settings. I read a Pamela Morsi set in the Louisiana Bayou in the 1800's. I loved it. I've read several romances set in the 1920's and loved them, as well. So as with any question about books that asks "What do you like . . .?" the answer is, it depends on the book.

I'm going to add on to this post today! I'm doing another group promo contest this week for Chanukah. All the info is below. Come and play and good luck!

I Just Can't Play It Enough (and a little something extra)

Howdy all, it's Trailer Trash Tuesday again. And I am going to do some absolutely shameless self-promotion. Have I no shame, you ask? Why, no. That's why I called it absolutely shameless self-promotion.

I've got to show my video for Retreat From Love again. I know I posted it the day after Thanksgiving because I was so excited that I couldn't wait until it was my turn on TTT. But I'm going to post it again 1) because I love it; 2) because it's my day on the blog and I can do whatever I want (within reason)(well, not really. I think I've proved that time and again); and 3) Retreat From Love is being released tomorrow. Yay!! Snoopy dance!! Woot! Woo-Hoo! Okay, you get the picture.

Scrapfairy Designs did the video for me and I think it turned out really well. The pictures they used for my three main characters fit the vision in my head perfectly. The mood of the video is sensuous, sexy and romantic at the same time. The picture at the beginning and the end of the video of the red coats has become a favorite of mine, and I've even put it on my Brothers In Arms book marks. I think I mentioned the first time I showed the video that their red coats aren't exactly accurate in terms of my group of former cavalry officers, but I don't care. It establishes the setting and time period of the series beautifully.

Since I'm re-posting my video for shameless self-promotion purposes, I thought I should also post another so regular readers don't get too bored. ;-) I took a look at the entries for most intriguing video over at the New Covey Trailer Awards site. My favorite by far was Belle Scarlett's The Woodsman. It's cute, interesting, visually engaging, the music is fitting, and the overall affect is, well, intriguing. So there you go.

What Is Your Sex Sign?

Yep, it's one of those crazy silly quizzes but i'm still semi sick and procrastinating and this amused me. Doesn't take much. LOL

Will you forgive me if I give you a hot guy to look at?

Photobucket

How long do you think before photobucket takes him down? *giggles* Well, in case they do, here is a nice alternative.

http://covermenmag.co.cc/morin/photos/david09.html

http://www.quizuniverse.com/quiz_84.html

This is what I got although I don't know...It's not 100% accurate but it sure made me blush..

Your Sex Sign is...
QuizUniverse.com
You ooze sensuality and lust!
You're down for anything, as long as it celebrates the natural body.
You're a master at giving head - and as long as it feels good, you'll do it.
Even your lover's nastiest fantasy!

Taurus, you draw your intense sexuality from the earth.
You are strongly built - like a Greek or Roman nude.
Your sign is ruled by the planet Venus - giving you a lusty appetite for sex.

Sexually, you favor the strong, silent type - someone as comfortable in the rugged outdoors as you are.
Intellectual, geeky types don't appeal to you at all.

Your home and surroundings are very imporant to you - it's always your place, not their's.
While you'd never do a hotel fling, you'll have sex outdoors (beach, grass, whatever) - as long as there is some privacy.

You are very oral - a master at oral sex.
You love your lover to climax in your mouth.
You love any and every kind of foreplay...
and you'll do anything as long as it feels good.
You are more pleasure-oriented than excitement-oriented.

As for weird sexual practices, you are fixed in your likes and dislikes
And you are are anything BUT conventional.
Your basic, carnal nature leads you to engage frequently in oral and anal sex.

Here's Laura's question for everyone. Heroes in LA Day's books tend to be Alpha Males. What do you like or dislike about Alpha Males?

That's tough for me. I don't really do alpha males, write them that is. I define alpha male as the naturally dominant male in a group, the one to whom all others defer, and who has an innate sense of responsibility for those who follow him. I think if written well they can be simmering cauldrons of conflicted responsibility and desires. But they are rarely written well. More often than not I find romance alphas noxious, over-bearing, dominating (this is different than dominant), arrogant and self-righteous. None of this is a turn-on for me.

I'm more drawn to the self-deprecating beta type. I like a little insecurity, a lot of humor, responsibility without the angst. When he asks the heroine's opinion and waits patiently for it, I don't get the impression that he's "indulging" her. Arghhh. And that's the general feeling I get from most romance alphas. I once read somewhere that in a werewolf tale, or even other supernatural heroes, it's easier to get away with alpha characteristics that in a plain old human hero would be intolerable. I do agree with that. Supernatural alphas have a little more leeway with me.

Mishmash and Fantasies

Photobucket Well, hello there and Happy Thursday night!

I was sitting here wondering what in the hell to talk about and so far, haven’t come up with anything. I need to be writing and getting to bed before 1am. I would talk about Christmas and such, but how can I compare really with Eliza’s sex toys and then there was Mari’s drunk erotic writing…and well, I’ve come up with jack sh*t!

As I’m trying to write this, Selena Blake is talking to me about writing goals for next year and I do so need to have some, but at this point, I don’t know what they would be. And then I got to thinking, men. I’ll post pics of men and write some hogwash that ya’ll won’t pay attention to because there will be yummies to look at! Piece of cake!
Photobucket

Then, I started thinking about something else. We all write or read or just daydreams about the HUNK of the month or day or hour… We all have things that inspire us. Many that I know are inspired by movie stars and actors and actresses. And while I understand this, there are very few of that set that inspire me to do more than gag. Though this guy doesn't make me want to gag...well, at least not in a bad way...(damn the halo slipped)
Photobucket

So, from that thought, I went straight into…what is your ultimate fantasy? When you write, do you put yourself into the story because it’s a fantasy of yours? Do you write about your fantasies? When you read, do you like books that make you so hot you have to…
Photobucket

I read a lot of bdsm and write a lot of it. I also write ménage with bisexual men. Ménage isn’t all that fun if the men aren't getting it on together…at least in my book! And yes I know I've posted this pic before, but...
Photobucket

Photobucket

How open or not are you about admitting what you’d like to try that you’ve read or researched? If your ultimate sexual fantasy walked into the room and headed straight for you…what would it be? Who would it be? One? More?

Photobucket

This one even has my name tattooed on his arm…oh yeah! I’d take him and make sure he brought *both* bats!
Photobucket

I don’t write about much that I haven’t or wouldn’t try given the chance. I mean, two hot, hunky men sandwiching me...let me count the ways!

I think, as erotic romance or erotic porn (and some of it is porn...very good porn, but porn just the same in some instances) writers it is imperative that we have and maintain open minds, creative minds. We seek to give and receive pleasure. We want to create an image in our reader’s minds of what would arouse them, send them over the edge, craving more words, and hell, even attacking their S.O. in a sexual frenzy.

So, come on girls…kiss and tell time…

Oh! And here is a visual of my new cover for my book with Phaze coming out in February...

Drunk Erotic Writing

Hello all. This week’s Wednesday with Mari is going to be a little different. Right now, as I type this it is actually Tuesday evening. I’m a tad bit tired and about to have dinner with HB. Why is she telling me all this, you ask? Because I have a little experiment I am going to perform this evening that will actually BE the ‘Wednesday With Mari’ post.

Many of us have stereotyped perceptions of professions, hot firemen for example, and how they do their job. As an erotic romance writer, I am often asked the same questions over and over about my profession and how I do my job. I also know that some people picture a writer, especially an erotic romance writer, as an easy fluff job. They think that authors are tucked up in some fancy home office, sitting on a furry pillow, dressed in frilly lingerie, and sipping expensive wine and eating fruit while being served by their sex slave as they write.

The reality is quite different from the perception. It’s dirty sweats and stolen moments away from family, other jobs and responsibilities, but…. I had a thought. I’m going to try working in the fantasy environment - Lingerie, candles, music, the whole none yards.

BUT>>> because it’s me, I’m going to do EXTREME EROTIC ROMANCE writing and risk life and limb…lol… by Drunk Erotic Writing.

I know. I know.
It’s risky, it’s dangerous, and hope it’s a little fun for you. And the best part is that you get to be in on the experiment! So as I type, I am sipping that wine. I’m going to over-indulge this evening and then write a sex scene … That’s right. I going to get drunk and write a short erotic scene from my current work in progress and then post the results for your reading enjoyment.
I'll make no changes to it. (The red text is commentary that I included as I worked last night)

Several hours later and the third bottle of wine that HB has so graciously agreed to share with me and I’m ready to start.

Here we go…

Trent entered the room and his nose immediately picked up the smell of the intruder mixed with the unmistakable fragrance that Nell leaves in her wake. His wolf reacted to both. He was angry and excited. Not a great combination. She had left him and told him she was no longer waiting for him to make up his mind. He was not going to lose her to this maniac.

He turned the corner. Her lifeless body lay at the bottom of the basement stairs. For a moment his blood stopped it’s journey through his body. No breath was escaping his lungs. Nell was dead. He felt not the slightest spark from her. He had told her in the woods to leave him, that he couldn’t be with a Halfling. He’d told her to go and now she was gone and he knew that life would never be the same again.

(The freaking cat is hungry and to inform me of this, he keeps walking across the keyboard. It’s hard to type with fur up your nose.)

He stood at the top of the stairs and contemplated leaving. Leaving the job, leaving the state, hell, he could leave the f**cking country and he wouldn’t be missed by anyone but the dead half-demon at the bottom of those stairs. His knees felt weak and he slid to the floor, burying his head against the wood of the doorframe. (Ouch)

“Nell.” He whispered in a plea to the moon.

“Trent?”

Her voice was weak, but he heard it. Before his mind reacted, his body did. He was half way down the stairs before his brain registered that his senses missed her life force. He should have felt her human soul.

Trent lifted her into his lap, holding her limp curvey body close to his. “Nell. Where are you hurt?”

“I have a major headache from the thump I took on the head, but I’m okay.”

She already sounded stronger. In the back of his mind he worried about why she felt dead to him when she wasn’t, but his bigger concern was her physical condition. “Can you stand up?”

She gave him that smile that made his insides melt and ran her hand up his chest. Her eyes changed to that creamy golden color that made her even harder to resist to his wolf. How did she know that kind of shit?

(Okay. This is soooo not fair… HB is now as tipsy as I am and is playing dance music in the living room…. And he’s dancing! I am so distracted. I want to dance!!!!)

“I could, but then it would be hard to fondle you.” Her smile turned naughty as her hand slid back down his chest and moved to rest over his cock. The adrenaline from the fear of losing her turned on him, and moved from making his heart throb, to making his cock pound. How did this halfling do this to a pure bread alpha wolf? She tightened her grip making him suck in a breath.

“You still want me, Trent Nichols. You may try to tell yourself that I’m not the one for you, but you still want me.” She wasn’t trying to hide her smug indignance. She owned him. He knew it as well and his wolf hated the submission. He had only one alternative, One way for his wolf to reconcile, To take.

(maybeee Trent is too much a jerk? You think? Concentrate Mari….)

Trent flipped the injured Halfling over. She squeaked in mild protest of his aggression. He knew he should keep his cool but it was way too late for that. The bitch had pushed past his limits yet again. How could he resist the feel of her under his fingertips? She was the rain to his desert. He ripped at her clothing, awkwardly pulling and tugging until she was naked and in his grasp. Somewhere in the back of his mind he remembered that she had been attacked and he had a job to do in finding her attacker and the reason for those attacks, but right now his attention was on her soft skin and round ass.

(I’m really trying to stay on track here. I’m losing motivation and the ability to concentrate on the scene. I know it’s time to crank up the heat! But I’m laughing instead of thinking seriously. Lol. Oh my. All sex seems sill y now. I think it’s because I know I’m posting it tomorrow. Maybe this isn’t as funny as I thought it would be. Maybe it’s funnier. Maybe I’m a big giant loser for even thinking about it. Lol Who knows.?)

He turned her back over. He needed to see those eyes. His hand traced their own path down her belly. He could feel her hold her breath as his hand slid into the top of her shorts. It’d only been a matter of hours since he’d had her, but the need was as strong as if it was their first time. He thirsted for a taste of her nectar.

(I have written three sentences here and deleted them all. LOL Between trying to remain aware that I’m trying to write and feeling loopy, the effort to write is losing out. Nectar? I know if I use the word nectar that the word muff is coming soon.

>>>HB is singing out loud with his headphones
on- Not much of a distraction! )

He took a nipple into his mouth, biting hard to make sure he had her full attention. If the woman had the nerve to scare him into the reality of knowing he truly needed her, than she had better not be playing. She moaned and leaned back opening herself up to his attentions. He let out a small moan of his own in response to her submissive arch. His hands traced the length of her back as he nibbled on her breast. The smell of her sweaty skin worked made his body tighten. This was his woman. He wished he could get past his history and have more than these stolen moments, but his nature would prevent that. He could only make these stolen moments of sexual bliss everything to the both of them.

(OMFG this sounds stupid right now! Lol...ohhh good song. brb)

Wednesday… 10am.
I came down the stairs this morning with my head a little thick and in desperate need of water. I found the house just as we left it last night. The Christmas tree lights are still on, the stereo is still blaring the 80-90’s dance music we were shaking our groove things to, and there are clothes strewn from one end of the house to the other. It is abundantly clear that HB and I had our own little party. It was a great time. You should have been here. Can you say easily distracted?? LOL

I give you the ugly reality of Drunk Erotic Writing. I love my commentary. Hot Body should have told me to put the laptop down and back away slowly. I was in here cackling out loud as I typed last night. Not the reaction you want to your own work!

“She was the rain to his desert.”? Did I actually think that was hot? Nectar? Nectar? I used the word nectar? At least I recognized is as a cliché even in my drunkenness. Oh my. The sentence structure got very frightening at times. The thing is, I was thinking as I wrote, “some of this is not that bad. I may really use it.” Bhwawawawawa.

BUT…. The most interesting thing about all this is that I don’t see a lot of dyslexic problems that I would usually have when writing sober. For those of you that are a bit lost here, I am very dyslexic. My critique partners and editors have to work very hard to catch that stuff for me (HB does it on the posts so you don’t have to read transposed words constantly). Maybe a glass of wine would help prevent form/from and barely/barley type mistakes??? Heck I switch up whole phrases at times. Maybe worth another experiment…

Get the wine! I wonder if the effects are different with Vodka?

So, there is it. Not as funny as I thought it would be, but interesting. I’m risking never getting published again by posting this for your amusement. I hope you appreciate it and learn from this highly amusing experiment. Drinking and writing sex scenes is dangerous.
Clearly a “Hey ya’ll. Watch this!” moment.

Fly Her to An Orgasmic Wonderland

The title of this post actually has nothing whatsoever to do with its content. That was just the subject on a spam email I got recently and it caught my attention. So, now that I have your attention. Ahem, hear ye, hear ye, I am highjacking Trailer Trash Tuesday today for more Deliciously Decadent December fun and book giveaways. Hmmm. Maybe the title is apt after all.

Today's entry in the festivities is Emma Petersen's Seducing St. Nic. I can't wait to read this one. But first, let's review what the Sam heck I'm talking about. Deliciously Decadent December is nine Ellora's Cave authors with December releases. We decided we'd promote one another's books on each other's blogs, AND we'd give away copies of our new releases as we go. That's pretty much it in a nutshell. Read more about who we are, and the rules to win books, here.

On days we don't have new releases to give away we'll have books from other authors to give away and some of them will be our guests at the Deliciously Decadent December Yahoo Group, which you can join here. So drop by each day, where the nine of us will be visiting with guest authors and other readers. You'll find an updated list at the Deliciously Decadent December Yahoo Group.

And the Deliciously Decadent December fun continues with: Seducing St. Nic by Emma Petersen.

Seducing St. Nic by Emma Petersen
Publisher: Ellora's Cave
ISBN eBook: 9781419919497
Genre: Vampire
Length: Novella
Release Date: Dec. 10, 2008

Barbara Jean Ruiz’s life has never been what anyone would call glamorous. She lives in an okay apartment, in an okay neighborhood and has an okay job with less-than-okay wages. Her life is…okay.

Then her luck starts to change. She wins a gorgeous fur coat. She gets promoted and her new boss is none other than the super-sexy St. Nic. Cypriano San Nicolo is everything a woman could want. He’s tall, dark, handsome, rich, successful and, oh yeah, the evil undead.

After nearly a century of self-imposed sleep, St. Nic has only two uses for humans—blood and sex. Until he meets Barbara Jean, his irreverent, wisecracking assistant. If he shows up at her apartment just before dawn, she’ll have to take him in. Into her bed, if everything goes as planned.

Here's Emma's question for everyone. If you could confirm the existence of one supernatural being which would it be?

Holy smokes, Emma, existential much? Okay, um, all of them. Is that a non-answer? Oh, wait. Supernatural beings! LOLOLOL At first glance I thought you meant God and/or gods. You mean vamps and weres and the like. Whew! There was no way I could answer the first in one blog. (Totally off topic, but I'm listening to Rick Springfield right now. Man, I still love him.)

Okay, back on topic. Angels. I'd like to prove the existence of angels. Because there's really nothing scary about angels unless you're one of the bad guys. They don't suck blood or turn into animalistic creatures with super strength and no conscience when the moon is full. And, of course, proving the existence of angels might possibly also work towards proving the bigger question about God and the like.

But, to be perfectly honest, I don't feel the need to prove the existence of any supernatural beings. Letting them roam free in our imagination is better, I think, than trying to rein them in in reality. That 's the one big issue I have with some urban fantasy. I just don't buy the premise that humans and supernatural beings could co-exist if people knew about their existence. We've learned the hard way not to trust things that are higher up on the food chain. There'd be all-out war until either they won or we did. In the end, somebody done be gone.

I'm posting this a day early because Mari has an excellent post planned for Wednesday. I hope everyone was able to find today's Triple D promo and book giveaway extravaganza post! Good luck!

Naughty Gifts for Very Good Girls

The kind who kiss and tell. *winks*

I keep getting these spam emails from adult toy stores. (really I have no idea why) But everyone is having a sale and so I thought hmmm. What would a naughty girl like for the holidays.

First on the list. Set the mood with a warm sensual massage. I know it's pretty tame but I actually have one of these and they feel damn good.

Next, how about the sexy slave kit for the slightly more adventurous.

A new vibrator. How about the Pretty Pink Pleaser. Everyone should have one. Although there are so many damn options out there I don't know how they expect us to choose.

And of course, a yummy set that I included in an upcoming story. The Chocolate Pleasure Vibrator Kit. It even comes with the chocolate!

And last but not least. Who doesn't need a Candy Cane glass dildo. It IS pretty.

Happy Holiday Shopping!

And on a totally different subject...

Look what I got today. A new cover! Squee. This is for a new contemporary BDSM menage that will be coming out with Phaze in February. Woot!

CRIMSON PREY: Crimson Pleasures Book Two

Loved the characters, the heat and the thought of an enthralling hero sinking his teeth into your neck in Crimson Thrall? Then get set for more passion, more intensity and a bigger bite!

Six centuries have passed since a treacherous enemy wrested Antonio's love from his bed. He was outmatched and overpowered before, but nothing will keep him from claiming Serafina now—not even Serafina herself. Wild with hunger and a soul-deep longing, he declares a Bride Hunt, an ancient ritual most vampires abandoned centuries before.

Serafina endured a loveless marriage for the sake of her sisters. Now her husband's death has freed her to think of her own happiness. Before she can decide how to flex her independence, she's being hunted by a domineering, if utterly desirable, vampire bent on binding her soul to his. Antonio awakens sensations and ignites responses she never experienced with her husband, but is physical pleasure reason enough to spend eternity at his side?
Read an Excerpt / Buy the Book

Want your very own copy of Aubrey's Crimson Prey? Leave a comment and you'll be entered to win an ebook copy of this sizzling new story. Don't know what to comment on? Here's an idea! I believe that cat people are drawn to vampire stories and dog people prefer werewolf stories. Do you agree or disagree and tell me why.

Oh my gosh, I don't know! I never thought about it. Hmm, interesting. You may be right. Ordinarily if given the choice between a werewolf novel and a vampire novel, I'll choose the vampire. And I'm a cat person. Hi, hello, how are you? My name is Sam, and I'm a cat person. So maybe you're right.

On the other hand, I had dogs growing up, so I lived with and loved two or three dogs at a time until the age of 18. Okay, that didn't sound right, but pull your mind out of the gutter and take it at face value. ;-) So I do know dogs. And maybe that's why I absolutely, positively, unequivocally cannot do furry sex. Werewolf books that delve into puppy-humping just turn me off. That is me personally, mind you. I know lots of people who don't have any issues with it, and enjoy those books very much. I've said it before and I'll say it again, different strokes for different folks. If we all liked the same books there'd only be a handful of working authors and the publishing industry would be in the tank. So vive la difference. But for me, no puppy-humping.

I'm kind of particular about my vamp books, too. I either like them really funny and sorta campy (Mary Janice Davidson) or seriously dark (Laurell K. Hamilton). And I like my vamps to be totally alpha and stand out in a crowd. I don't want them to be the kind who've blended in for centuries and you can't tell they're vamps the first time you lay eyes on them. Me, a picky reader? Why do you say that? lol

So, to sum it all up, cat person = vampire book reader and dog person = werewolf book reader, agree. Well, kind of. From the cat person perspective. But I can't speak for dog people. Woof.

Pain and Pressure

I seem to have a lot of it lately. My head more often than not hurts like hell and I believe will continue hurting until I realize and put into effect that I need a vacation. Now, a vacation from what I'm not entirely sure. I don't have the 60+ hour a week job and I can slack off quite often. Yes, I'm a mother of a teenager and well that in and of itself might be a trigger for vacation needs. I'm a wife to a relatively normal guy and my son is a peach most of the time. I don't deal with my mother-in-law and my family...well they went home last weekend. So, what triggers this need to get away from it all, to recharge? Is it having the basic same routine day in and day out? Is it staying cooped up to write or work?

We all say we need time to ourselves but being writers is a pretty solitary deal. Yes we chat and email and word war, but it's still fairly alone time with ourselves and our characters which I will admit makes my head hurt a lot, too.

I am going on just over 24 hours of a headache. I haven't written in days though I did try to work on a story today for submission. I feel stressed but have no idea why considering I did 90% of my Christmas shopping online today and no pressure coming from anywhere about anything.

And yes I know this is a rather whiny blog but if I could just get Eliza to smack me over the head with a hammer, y'all wouldn't have to listen to it.

Thank you all ever so much I would like some cheese with my whine!

From the iTouch...goodnight
Lissa

Don’t know what comment on?? Here’s an idea!
Why is the ménage genre so popular and what do you like or not like about it?

Oh, oh! Let me answer. But I'm going to narrow the question. Why is the ménage genre so popular with female readers? Because it's the ultimate female fantasy. Two gorgeous men in love with you. At your beck and call. Yours to do with as you please. In the m/f/m ménage the focus is on the woman as the center of the relationship, both physically and emotionally. She's in the middle, the glue that holds it all together. Without her, both men are incomplete. Wow!! Oh, yeah, fantasy time. And you can get more than one kink satisfied at a time.

In the m/m/f ménage all the above holds true as well, particularly in the storylines in which the men don't discover, or act on, their feelings for one another until the woman enters the equation. She makes it possible for the men to love not only her, but each other. So now female readers are getting a second dose of the characters emotional development. More angst, more heartfelt declarations of undying love. And then you add in the voyeuristic factor. Here's where m/m/f ménage is different from m/f/m. They get to watch. The heroines, I mean. They get to watch their two sexy men having sweaty, rough, mind-blowing smex. Oh, yeah. Bow chicka wah wah. Another fantasy fulfilled.

The popularity of m/m romance among female readers is on the rise, but in my opinion it will never be as popular as the ménage. Because in either type, m/f/m or m/m/f, the reader can envision herself in the story. She can become the heroine if only for a little while through her fantasies. In m/m, she can't. She can satisfy the voyeur craving, but she can't transport herself into the story. Because she's not there. No woman is there. There are some truly wonderful m/m romances out there, but for wish fulfillment you can't beat the ménage.

In case you couldn't tell, I like everything about it. ;-) But, and this is me personally, I prefer m/m/f ménage. My personal take on it is, if you are naked in bed with someone then you are open to the possibilities. Even encouraging the possibilities. So a ménage where the men have no sexual interest or contact with one another is unrealistic to me. It's also why I'm not a fan of the so-called "twincest" storyline. Even in the one m/f/m ménage I wrote (The Debutante in Ellora's Cavemen: Jewels of the Nile II), it was clear that the men had no problem with touching each other to enhance the experience.

Okay, now follow the yellow-brick internets to Shelly's place for more chances to win!

What a November

And boy am I glad it's over.

I'm sad to report that I did not actually win NaNo. :( I ended at 47k instead of the required 50k. Everyone encouraged me to start something new and write that last 3k but to be honest, when I hit my goal of "The End" on the second black cougar novel my writing self started to shut down. I got started on a free read for Christmas but needed a break.

Not only that, but copy edits for the first book came in the day before Thanksgiving and I had no choice but to stop and switch gears. So while I didn't win NaNo, I am so happy that I wrote 47k in one month and reached the end of the 1st draft. In about 10 days I will return to that manuscript and begin editing it so I can turn it in before the holiday as promised.

This morning I am making a list and planning what the rest of this month will look like writing wise. I'm calling it my loose end month. Time to get those little things done that are still hanging around so that January can begin all sparkly and new. lol If you are interested in what kind of goals i've set for Loose end December you can see the list HERE.

Also with December naturally my thoughts have turned to the holidays and all the fun things to do for that. Three christmas trees to decorate, a gingerbread house to make, cookies to bake (yum for snowball cookies) and some online shopping to complete.

Now if only I could have a white christmas...

So what are your plans for December? Writing? Napping? Shopping? Anyone?
